Not every worn floor needs sanding. HQ first evaluates whether the floor truly needs a full refinish — though a color change does call for deep sanding, since the existing finish and color must come off completely.

Dust control before the first pass
Work begins by containing the work area: plastic protection at doorways and rooms that are not part of the project, then the sanding machines connect to HQ's Bona Portable DCS 2.0 and DCS 50 dust-collection systems before the first pass is made.

Color, sampled on your own floor
Clients typically arrive with three or four colors in mind. Mid-project, HQ applies those samples directly on the sanded floor — in your light, on your wood — so the choice is made looking at the real thing, not a brochure.

Finish in three tiers
Once the color or sealer is applied, the protective waterborne coats go on. HQ offers a good-better-best range of Bona waterborne finishes — from Bona Mega ONE to the Bona Traffic family — matched to how each home lives.

Honest timelines
The sanding and finishing work itself typically runs three days to a week, depending on the size and scope. Furniture returns after a cure period of roughly three to seven days — each finish cures on its own schedule, and HQ tells you exactly what yours needs.
